DR. SHERWOOD

Upon graduation from Temple university with a major in psychology, I began working with individuals with brain injuries and applied into a doctoral program in cognitive psychology. For many years in my 20’s, I suffered from severe headaches as well as stomach aches from pain medication I was using to stop the headaches.  This was a “disconnect” for me because I became a vegetarian at the age of fourteen and pursued a holistic lifestyle otherwise. At the urging of a friend, I finally sought chiropractic care.
After a few months, I began having fewer headaches of significantly reduced intensity. I was relieved and amazed at the results!  I switched gears in my career path and relocated to Atlanta to attend Life University where I received my Doctorate of Chiropractic in 1994. After graduating, I began my wellness practice in the Atlanta area. I LOVE being a chiropractor and consider it a calling.  It’s wonderful helping patients feel better and younger than they have in years.
She enjoys teaching strategies for minimizing supplementation by eating a  whole-food based, anti-inflammatory diet and the importance of FUN in day-to-day life.  Her hobbies include weekly hikes, yoga, water-rowing and mindfulness practices. Dr. Sherwood is active in her neighborhood association, as well as metro Atlanta and DeKalb area non-profit organizations.

DR. COHEN

I am originally from Montego Bay, Jamaica, but moved to New York to attend Binghamton University in 2004. After 3 years in the pre-med program, I became conflicted about continuing because the focus was on sickness instead of HEALTH. Serendipitously, a close college friend of mine told me about chiropractic and the philosophy that our bodies have the intelligence to heal, grow and maintain ourselves once interference to those processes is removed. A spark was ignited and I knew that a profession that enabled me to care for patients with my hands, without drugs or surgery, was the career and lifestyle I was looking for.  As a result, I bee-lined to LIFE University in Marietta, GA in the Fall of 2008 to start my journey. I’ve been in practice since 2013 and look forward to a long chiropractic career serving my community
As a student I started a family and now have three beautiful children, Lora, Noah and Mia! I enjoy playing tennis, chess and video games with them. I also appreciate brisk (but short) runs as I was formerly a sprinter in high school and the occasional hike.
Dr. Cohen lives in Lilburn, GA to be close to work and his extended family !

MINDY SCARFO

OFFICE MANAGER

I recently relocated to the Atlanta area from South Florida where I lived for 27 years enjoying the weather, raising two wonderful sons, and working in chiropractic. I’ve loved being active and working out my whole life which is how my chiropractic journey began. I was enrolled in gymnastics at the age of three and continued through my high school years. I was also a cheerleading and played any sports that I could do (driving my mother crazy)! It was inevitable that I would be visiting a chiropractor to restore proper function and movement to my spine, as well as restoring overall health.
Before I began my chiropractic career I began working in the medical field as a nurse, however, I was definitely aware that something was missing. Fortunately, I switched course to the holistic, preventative field of chiropractic and began serving patients in busy practices since 1987. I love this field and I’ve never looked back!
I feel so fortunate to be part of the team at Sherwood Chiropractic Center. The doctors are so passionate about their field, and the overall wellness of our patients. It’s absolutely awesome to come to work every day and work with such a great team and fantastic patients.
So here I am, waiting for your phone call so that you may begin your chiropractic journey. Come on let’s get started what are you waiting for?!

INSURANCE & BILLING SPECIALIST

I am originally from Illinois and worked in the insurance industry for several years prior to moving to Georgia after the Olympics in 1996. After starting a company providing medical billing for various practices for 11 years I finally worked with my first chiropractor and haven’t looked back since. It’s been 12 years since chiropractic’s holistic approach has changed my career and helped improve my own health and the health of my family! I love working for Sherwood Chiropractic Center because we educate our patients about continuing care beyond the limitations of insurance coverage. I enjoy my role of simplifying the insurance process for our patients and I continue to get adjusted weekly by our wonderful doctors!
Mikki has 5 children and 19 grandchildren and enjoys spending her weekends with her family.
